Shaft keyway sizing is the required parallel key length based on shear and bearing stress constraints per DIN 6885-1 / ASME B17.1 and Shigley. Use the formula L = \max(F_t / (b \times \tau_{\text{allow}}), F_t / (h_e \times \sigma_{c,\text{allow}})) governing length evaluates both shear failure across width b and compressive bearing failure across effective flank height h_e = min(t1, t2).
